What we produce at Dunlarg Dexters....
Are you a meat connoisseur, do you appreciate quality meat produced for a reasonable cost, with animal welfare on the farm given top priority? If this is you, then you need to see and taste what we produce here at Dunlarg Dexters. If you are new to the Dexter breed, they are the smallest of the native cows, originating on the west coast of Ireland, derived to exist on rough terrain producing a premium meat as well as supplying plenty of milk for their young. Top chefs from around the world will always favour the Dexter meat for their dishes because of its natural marbling giving a much superior taste.
All of the meat that we produce is born and reared on our farm, meaning we can provide full traceability with the highest of animal welfare given. We are a family farm and strive to teach our kids all the aspects of living on a working farm. The excitement of seeing new born calves arrive, and the skills to care and look after the animal throughout its life.
We have built the herd in size from October 2014 when 3 x Dexter cows with calves at foot were purchased to what it is today of 30 breeding pedigree cows.
All meat produced is sold directly from the farm and we aim to have what we call a 'meat drop' once per month. Our customers are all return business with an ever increasing customer base. However as a local, micro-business, the need for return customers is ever more important, and we certainly are very thankful for this.
